The Client Tax Operations Utility is a team that is set up to support JP Morgan's Commercial Banking, Consumer & Community Banking, and Corporate & Investment Banking clients. The team also works in partnership with JP Morgan's Asset Wealth Management business. The Operation consists of 450 employees across 8 countries. The Utility's primary responsibility is to maximize the client experience and comply with the tax regulations globally. The team delivers 20 million US tax reporting packages annually. Assists clients to obtain approximately $14B in tax relief at source per year and manages tax reclaims valued at $3.9B.

The Client Tax Operations Utility is evolving as a Firmwide utility while facing increasingly complex regulatory requirements. The individual in the role will work in close partnership with Corporate Tax.

Role Description:

We are seeking a Managing Director level candidate to lead the Client Tax Operations Utility. The role will report directly to the Global Head of Client Onboarding and Documentation and will sit on the Leadership Team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead 450 tax professionals across the globe
  • Partner closely with Corporate Tax to drive common standards, a consistent view of risk, and common controls across the firm's business lines. Drive synergies, best practices and efficiencies across the groups.
  • Establish and lead tax regulatory change programs for the firm to drive accountability to meet regulatory milestones
  • Deliver on multi-year strategic technology road map
  • Ensure consistency of procedures and practices to meet regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a governance and reporting structure to ensure objectives are clearly defined, deliverables are documented with associated metrics to measure output and all team members remain engaged and on track with target deadlines
  • Serve as senior escalation point of contact for Client Tax Operations tax documentation, withholding, or reporting issues
  • Partner with Corporate Tax and Legal to solution complex issues surrounding client types and structures, financial products and services, and other risk related issues

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrate extensive Operations leadership experience
  • Have a relevant degree or appropriate industry experience
  • Thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing multiple concurrent initiatives and deadlines
  • Demonstrate communication and diplomacy skills to work cross-organizationally to influence others, drive results, and implement processes/projects
  • Experience leading large teams across multiple global locations
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization
  • Ability to quickly build relationships and influence colleagues, business leaders, and functional partners
  • Confident communicator with ability to provide clear and succinct verbal and written updates for all levels of the organization
  • Understands clients' needs and impact on relationship across J.P. Morgan
  • Be commercial and have a strong background and proven ability to transform Operations businesses across multiple business areas
