Provides leadership and direction for the professional development and clinical education with respect to the AHN Focus 5: Quality and Safety, Growth and Access, Patient Experience, Financial Stability and People. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and executing the educational plan and initiatives (regulatory, quality and safety) for all aspects of system wide standardized Behavioral Health Education in collaboration with hospital Directors of Nursing Education and Professional Development and Nursing Professional Development Specialists (Education and Development Specialist; Clinical Educators ect) and the Behavioral Health Institute; and in meeting the educational needs of staff for the Behavioral Health Patient population across the continuum of care as applicable.

  • Leads the educational components for nursing across the system including assessment, implementation, planning, evaluation and execution of the programs to support education in the assigned specialized population. Monitors and controls and is accountable for maintaining departmental costs within budgeted allocations.
  • Works in collaboration with leadership, management, educators and staff to facilitate and implement quality performance improvement initiative.
  • Serves as educational consultant for leadership, management and staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, regulatory compliance, professional development and other assigned committee work.
  • Provides guidance and support to practice leaders and hospital/unit based educators to actively participate in the infrastructure to support nursing excellence (Magnet). Coordinates and participates in the continuity of orientation and ongoing development programs that assist and support new nurses as well as seasoned staff to support competency initiatives and provide quality of care. (
  • Conducts and analyzes formal and informal learning needs with leadership and staff. Develops and implements annual competency and education plan for Behavioral Health patient population. Performs other duties as assigned or required including direct patient care.


  • Master's degree in nursing, education, or a related field
  • PA RN license
  • Basic Life Support
  • 5-7 years of related experience
