What you'll be doing...
This position is for Sr. Manager -Data Management/Metrics, Analytics and Business Intelligence (BI) Support. The primary function is to oversee the day-to- day operational needs for reporting and business intelligence for the company. This role is essential to ensure master data systems and reporting processes are properly managed and monitored by our support partners so that critical day-to-day business decisions and priorities can be made by our operating units. The role will be required to work with the business units to understand data reporting needs and design the best solutions that are sustainable within the framework of our data reporting systems. The position must also be ready and capable of adopting new platforms to design solutions and will work closely with the rest of the data architecture teams to design and implement the next generation of tools and platforms to enable our business to make sound decisions on strategy and focus, have the ability to review, advice, and qualify complex SQL queries produced by offshore team members. Position will be supporting Cognos, SQL server data marts, SQL ETL, and other BI reporting tool sets like Qlikview, Tableau for VZT, VZW, Verizon Enterprise Solutions (VES).
  • Responsible for data reconciliation/monitoring - ownership of processes and development of enhancements to them; initial troubleshooting as knowledge is built. It will need to identify severity levels, customer impacts and root cause; establishing an issue tracking system. Identify opportunities and deliver innovation and process improvement within the BI space. Optimization and automation of monitoring and alerting processes and Maintenance of Job Reference documentation. Provide oversight and manage BI products, with a strong focus on quality and operational robustness.
  • Provide expert advice and consultation on data structures. Work with other teams to understand business rules and interpret data. Provide status to the senior management team and keep stakeholders apprised of key project activities. Identify, track, and mitigate risks that could have a negative impact on project timelines and or deliverables. Challenge teams to deliver appropriate quality standards in all work products.
  • Maintain an ongoing knowledge of both the technical data model and the business' strategic needs. It will manage BI program backlog and coordinate prioritization activities technical and non-technical teams.
  • Motivates, coaches and trains staff to maximize productivity and promote their professional development, staffs vacancies based on headcount and diversity targets, sets employee performance objectives and manages employee performance, salary planning and administration.
What we're looking for...
You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have:
  • BS In Computer Science
  • 10 years total related experience
  • 5 years as a BI Team Lead
  • Strong analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) relating to the delivery of BI applications including Waterfall and Agile methodologies and experience in configuration management and software release principles as well as change management concepts.
  • Knowledge of BI best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Good conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to handle multiple tasks
